your mom's a journal title

this song sums up the story of my life (Orange Sky - Alexi Murdoch)

Well I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
Yes I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
With my brother standing by
With my brother standing by
I said Brother, you know you know
It’s a long road we’ve been walking on
Brother you know it is you know it is
Such a long road we’ve been walking on

And I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
With my sister standing by
With my sister standing by
I said Sister, here is what I know now
Here is what I know now
Goes like this..
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, in your love, in your love

But sister you know I’m so weary
And you know sister
My heart's been broken
Sometimes, sometimes
My mind is too strong to carry on
Too strong to carry on

When I am alone
When I’ve thrown off the weight of this crazy stone
When I've lost all care for the things I own
That's when I miss you, that's when I miss you, that's when I miss you
You who are my home
You who are my home
And here is what I know now
Here is what I know now
Goes like this..
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, in your love, in your love

Well I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
Yes I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
With my brother and my sister standing by
With my brother and my sister standing by
With my brother and my sister standing by

The dogs are like, what are you doing?

I'm like...I'm brushing my teeth.

They're like, is there any possible way we could provide assistance? Perhaps if we stand closer to you? Oh, is that your foot? My apologies. What are you doing now?

I'm like...I'm going to bed! We have hung out all day!

They're like, but say, just before you go? How about a bedtime story?

and now, livejournal friends, some questions for you to reflect on:

In a little segment I like to call Reflections: 2009, I'm posing the following questions to you, to me, to anyone who cares to answer them:

1.  What inspires you?
2.  How have your values and goals changed since college?
3.  Do you have a five year plan?  or How do you feel about a five year plan?
4.  What makes you feel as though you've spent your time in a "worthwhile pursuit?"  Is this part of your career?
5.  What's something you would change about your life right now?
6.  Why haven't you made that change (if applicable)?
7. Who do you look up to/who are you inspired by?

Feel free to copy/paste these questions (and your responses) into an entry of your own, if you like.  If you don't like, well, that's fine, too.

I'll answer these in my next entry.

Sad Day
[info]slinky76
It's tough for you to be in charge of your own schedule today, for it seems like your day's agenda has already been determined by others and there's not much you can do about it. But you might have a trick or two up your sleeve now as the imaginative Pisces Moon sends you a blast of fresh ideas. Don't be afraid to take a risk and do something differently, even if you shake up the misguided beliefs that others have about you.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). An unforeseen expense has put a wrinkle in your plans. Though it was an annoying surprise, your ability to meet that sudden financial need is a testament to your problem-solving prowess. Note: You are the one who perseveres.

"Let Go" - Frou Frou

drink up baby doll
Are you in or are you out?
Leave your things behind
'Cause it's all going off without you
Excuse me too busy you're writing your tragedy
These mishaps
You bubble-wrap
When you've no idea what you're like

[Chorus:]
So, let go, let go
Jump in
Oh well, what you waiting for?
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So, let go, let go
Just get in
Oh, it's so amazing here
It's all right
'cause there's beauty in the breakdown

It gains the more it gives
And then it rises with the fall
So hand me that remote
Can't you see that all that stuff's a sideshow?
Such boundless pleasure
We've no time for later
Now you can't await
your own arrival
you've twenty seconds to comply

[Chorus:]
So, let go, so let go
Jump in
Oh well, what you waiting for?
It's alright
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So, let go, yeah let go
Just get in
Oh, it's so amazing here
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown

[Background sounds]

[Chorus:]
So, let go,
Jump in
Oh well, what you waiting for?
It's alright
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So, let go, yeah let go
Just get in
Oh, it's so amazing here
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown

In the breakdown
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
The breakdown

So amazing here
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown

hola.

well, that about maxes out my Spanish abilities.  yo quiero taco bell.  And there you have it.  Tonight, I celebrated September 1st by attending a meetup in Old Town for the Wild Women of the Vine of San Diego.  For an introvert, this is a fairly egregious undertaking:  you have to go out, after work, and talk to people you don't know.

*cowers in corner*

But it was pretty fun.  We went to the Wine Cabana in Old Town:  http://winecabana.com/ and they had Evolution #9 on the menu.  This is the best white wine I have ever had and you KNOW that's saying something.  The women who attended were fun & it was nice to talk to some non-SDSU people.

Good times.

I love to look at postcards from far away and imagine the trials and tribulations they went through as they made their way to my little mailbox.

It trips me out when I chat with G online and she's all, yesterday I saw the Dalai Lama in person and tomorrow I'm going rafting in the Himalayas!  :)  And I'm all, I'm just sitting at my desk.

G...we first met her in this entry:  http://slinky76.livejournal.com/2004/07/13/ but now you can read about her adventures at http://www.twokidsandadream.com

I close tonight with this thought:

People should think a little harder and a little longer about how their words and actions impact other people.

This is interesting...

I was born in July.  The full moon in July is sometimes known as the Oak Moon, which was waxing on the day of my birth.  Ancient lore tells that the moon that governs your month of birth can predict a great deal about your character and challenges in life....

The Oak Moon
The oak tree was a sacred symbol for many ancients, representing truth and steadfast knowledge. Wise men carved wide circles in the bark of the oak tree for protection against lightning, because of its tendency to survive lightning strikes and regenerate afterwards. To them, the oak was representative of the trials that individuals experience in life while changing and becoming who they were meant to be.
The oak tree has been long considered a guardian capable of opening doorways and facilitating self-spirituality strength to progress onward. The oak provided the courage to overcome any obstacles which had to be resolved during the travels of an individual and, in time perhaps, to learn the ways of the wise.
